Hello Autumn

I know that it's been Autumn for a while now, but I haven't made a post for a while. I spent some time walking and shopping today, trying to forget the stress of work for a day.
We grabbed some ramen and sushi at Shigezo earlier today, and then eventually ended up at Compound. There's a really good exhibit going on there, and if you're in Portland you should check it out.
I had been working on NaNoWriMo, but I've had to back out. I have other things I want to work on that feel more important, as well as work stress, so I only ended up with about 8500 words before dropping it. We'll see if I want to try again next year.

That's it for now. Not too exciting, but I hope I'm able to concentrate on a project going forward.

50 works

In the Fall '10 term at PSU, I took my first Advanced Painting class. The assignment was to do 50 paintings in the span of 10 weeks. I fell a little behind at the end of the class, but I was able to finish. It was really stressful and I felt like my social life was slipping away, but in the end I am just proud of the progress I made.

I hadn't painted in a year when I started the class, and by the end I had done more paintings than I had really done in any of my other classes combined. The process of making the 50 paintings led to the 8 paintings I did in the second Advanced Painting class last term, but that will be a different post.

I don't have a camera other than the one on my iPhone, so I only got a few pictures from that. There was a lot of wonderful work at the show from the entire class, and I wish I'd taken more pictures of that.
